ABOUT KARA Since 1984, KARA Family Resource Centre has been a pillar of support for children and families.

We provide support, guidance, and educational opportunities to families and young children that promote increased capacity for both children's development, parenting skills and knowledge, and family wellness.

VOLUNTEER BOARD OPPORTUNITY We are seeking new voices to join KARA's Board to guide our work and inspire transformation in the non-profit sector and community.

The Board meets bi-monthly for regular meetings, while Committees of the Board meet monthly to engage in intentional work. Board Committees include Executive, Finance, Governance, Fund Development, and Nominations.

The Nominating Committee is seeking new Board Members with the following competencies: accounting & finance, fund development, event planning, human resources, and marketing and development.

BOARD COMMITMENT KARA Board Members commit to a 2-year term with possibility of renewal bi-annually, dedicating 5 to 10 hours per month to board involvement.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings, monthly committee meetings, and Annual General Meeting.
  • Attend and participate in KARA Family Resource Centre community events.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow board members & partners in the community.
  • Serve as a spokesperson & community liaison for KARA Family Resource Centre.
  • Promote KARA Family Resource Centre positively within the community.
Contribute to the well-being of your community.
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALITIES In addition to experience and skills in the areas of accounting & finance, fund development, event planning, human resources, and marketing and development, Board Members should possess;

  • Effective communication and networking skills.
  • Strategic, long-term planning and development.
