You as an Environmental Specialist will:
Promote, implement and provide leadership on EllisDon's environmental policies, practices and procedures at Toronto area construction projects
Review of background and technical documents (including environmental reports, legislation and contract documents) for implications on proposals or project works
Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with preparation of site-specific Environmental Management Plans
Review and provide input on scope of work and contractual documents

Working with multi-disciplinary teams, including internal project resources and external consultants, in managing the impacts of the works and achieving deliverables.

Develop risk mitigation strategies for construction operations
Conduct training and act as a resource for on-site HSE Coordinators

Conducting site visits to support project teams with environmental program development and implementation, such as environmental plans, training and monitoring.

Promote environmental awareness to on-site personnel and provide timely communications to the Project Management and Site Teams regarding the environmental program performance and any non-conformance items
Assist site teams on completing required reporting requirements in event of environmental incidents and follow-up investigations and root cause analysis

Is this the right role for you?

Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of environmental regulations and experience working with regulatory agencies/conservation authorities in obtaining approvals and maintaining compliance.
Knowledge and experience with a broad range of environmental aspects, risks and control measures associated with civil and infrastructure construction projects in and around sensitive areas
Certified Inspector of Erosion and Sediment Control would be an asset
3+ years' experience in a similar role, preferably in a construction environment

Ability to travel to construction project sites across the GTA, anticipated to be approximately 20% in office and 80% at project sites.
