Resident Manager


The Lawen Group is the controlling company for Dexel and Paramount Management (Paramount), providing property development and management services across Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM).

Since 1972, the Lawen Group has forged a reputation for superior construction and management for a large portfolio of properties including 1,200 residential units and 300,000 square feet of commercial retail and office space throughout HRM.


Summary Description:

Responsible for day-to-day effective operations of one or more multi-unit residential properties through preventative maintenance, building improvements, policy adherence, and quality tenant relations

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct responsive, respectful and professional tenant relations including addressing concerns promptly and managing written correspondence and other forms of communication
  • Responsible for building an attractive appearance and appealing atmosphere including cleanliness, organization, and good repair
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and operations are implemented effectively and efficiently while maintaining full compliance with applicable current regulations and contracts
  • Coordinate and oversee maintenance requirements in a timely and costeffective manner, performing duties when skill set allows
  • Maintain, conduct and/ or schedule all property inspection; including mechanical systems, common areas, units, fire safety as well as building envelope
  • Uphold a safe, secure work environment to ensure the requirements of the company and the Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced
  • Advise on vendor and supplier contract terms and schedule
  • Support marketing and promotional campaigns with a shared goal of attracting and retaining desirable tenants including open houses, social events, and engagement campaigns

Related Experience:

  • Five years' experience in related role including hospitality and real estate
  • Property management
  • Maintenance technician

Skills / Knowledge:

  • Working computer skills including; MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and manuals
  • Working knowledge of building operating systems
  • Understanding of contract terms and residential leases
  • Competency in general property maintenance

Work Conditions:

Primarily based in an office. High requirement for physical inspections and visits to property daily, resulting in frequent physical exertion
