  • What we are looking for:

As a registered nurse you will become an integral member of the interprofessional team responsible for the comprehensive care of Oncology Clinic patients.

You will practice in an environment where the emphasis is on professional practice and customer satisfaction.

Using your clinical expertise, you will, in collaboration with the interprofessional team, be responsible for comprehensive assessment, care planning and patient education.

In addition, you will utilize your demonstrated clinical leadership skills, and you're well developed analytical, problem solving, delegation and interpersonal skills to assist you in the provision of quality patient/family centred care.


Specific areas of responsibilities will include:
Assessing, teaching and supporting Oncology patients
Acting as a resource and role model, including mentoring/coaching staff
Promoting and supporting a positive working relationship, effective team building and functioning with all staff
Identifying and problem solving potential risk issues
Accessing central venous access devices devices (i.e. Ports, Hickmans, PICCs)
IV initiation

What you bring to the role:
Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Bachelor of Science Nursing (BScN) preferred
Current BCLS certification
Recent completion of chemotherapy administration, deSouza Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Administration Certification preferred
CNA Oncology Certification preferred, and/or a commitment to complete within 2 years of hire
RNAO membership and Active member of Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO) is preferred
Recent and relevant clinical experience in oncology nursing preferred
Minimum of 1 year of experience with the initiation of IV therapy and central venous access devices required
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as a primary nurse in an ambulatory clinic environment preferred
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience with telephone triage nursing principles and practices preferred
Excellent physical assessment and patient education skills
Proficient computer skills
Demonstrated commitment to a patient/family centered care environment
Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal
Demonstrated excellent critical thinking and ability to problem solve
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently
Evidence of ongoing professional development, continuing education and leadership experience
Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the

ability to maintain these same standards
Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
