Job Description:


As a member of the interprofessional team your responsibilities will include: admission screening, conducting comprehensive psychological assessments, diagnostic assessments, and risk assessments regarding harm to self and others, individual therapy, group treatment, and consultation to interdisciplinary teams.

In addition, your duties will include participating in Case Management and Treatment Plan conferences, providing staff consultation, and assisting with staff training related to psychological interventions.


You should be versed in evidenced based interventions for youth who are involved in children's mental health and youth justice services including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and suicide /violence risk assessment and management techniques.

This is a fully remote position that may, on occasion, be required to attend the Aurora office at 218 Earl Stewart Dr. #7, Aurora, ON, L4G 6V7.

Qualifications:

  • Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills where you have engaged a high risk adolescent population presenting complex mental health challenges and criminogenic needs within a youth justice/ mental health residential treatment setting.
  • Knowledge and working experience with Evidence Based Practices and DBT is preferred
  • You have demonstrated clinical leadership, proven communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively as a team member will be significant position requirements. Knowledge concerning diversity issues will also be considered an asset for this position.
  • As part of your success you will be required to complete a two week onboarding program that includes the completion of our crisis management program Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB).

Kinark Child and Family Services conditions of employment include but are not limited to successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, completed Pre-Employment Medical certificate, and proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. Fully vaccinated is defined as having received all required doses of a World Health Organization Approved COVID-19 Vaccine at least one of which being approved for use in Canada and 14 days have passed since your last dose. Proof of vaccination for each vaccine dose received is required.
