Toronto, Ontario, Canada Confluent Inc Full time

Description

With Confluent, organizations can harness the full power of continuously flowing data to innovate and win in the modern digital world. We have a purpose that drives us to do better every day – we're creating an entirely new category within data infrastructure - data streaming. This technology will allow every organization to create experiences and use the power of data in ways that profoundly impact the way we all live. This impact is our purpose and drives us to do better every day.

One Confluent. One team. One Data Streaming Platform.

Data Connects Us.

About the Role:

Confluent Cloud is built on Kora , a collection of cloud data services that serves up the Kafka protocol for our thousands of customers and their tens of thousands of clusters. We are hiring a Product Manager to join work with our team in advancing our next-gen architecture to help our customers take event streaming to the next level. A successful candidate will collaborate closely with customers and internal stakeholders to improve and innovate on the Kora Storage layer. Your expertise and vision will be instrumental in solidifying Confluent Cloud as the premier destination for deploying Kafka workloads and streaming in general.

What You Will Do:

As a Kora Storage Product Manager, you will be responsible for spearheading initiatives across three primary domains:

  • Confluent Cloud Evolution: Drive the development and enhancements of our state-of-the-art storage engine to create new and innovative products and take them to market.
  • Drive the unification of operational and analytical data: Work with customers and internal stakeholders to help drive the roadmap of Tableflow - a recently announced feature that turns streaming data into Apache Iceberg tables at a push of a button.
  • Work across teams: Create shared understanding and direction across engineering, product, business development, support, sales, and marketing teams within Confluent and externally with our partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute Confluent's Cloud's Kora Storage Roadmap with a focus on helping take innovative new products to market.
  • Developing product and technical specifications for Tiered Storage , Tableflow , and other exciting unannounced projects.
  • Working closely with customers to help gather feedback, requirements, share our vision and roadmap, and deeply understand their user journeys.
  • Educating Confluent's field and the broader community about new features.
  • Be responsible for the whole lifecycle: Drive multi-company, cross-functional initiatives from conception through initial delivery, and ongoing iteration after launch.
  • Close the loop: Define quantitative and qualitative targets, measure performance against them, share results with stakeholders, and incorporate those learnings into the next development cycle.
  • Manage complexity: Deliver value while handling the surprises and challenges of a quickly evolving product, ambitious partnership targets, and a rapidly growing organization.
  • Develop a strategic vision of where to invest our effort to help our customers succeed.
  • Think through a great end-to-end product experience with a focus on detailed user stories.
  • Create a roadmap to deliver that experience to customers.

What Gives You an Edge:

  • 2 + years of software, or technical product management experience
  • Experience with operational data systems, data warehouses, datalakes, or lakehouses.
  • Demonstrated strongwritten and verbal communication
  • Ability to empathize with Confluent Cloud Kafka users in order to provide them a great experience.
  • Ability to understand and learn new technical concepts quickly.
  • Basic understanding of Cloud Infrastructure and services.
  • Knowledge of Kafka or other streaming technologies preferred but not required.

Come As You Are

At Confluent, equality is a core tenet of our culture. We are committed to building an inclusive global team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, beliefs, and experiences. The more diverse we are, the richer our community and the broader our impact.
