Brampton, Ontario, Canada Maskwacis Education Schools Commission Full time

The Health Care Aid will support teachers in carrying out the educational mission and enhancing the learning experiences of children at MESC. They will work under the guidance of school Principals, reporting to Assistant Principals and Teachers.

The Health Care Aid will be responsible for:

  • Delivering activities to reinforce and advance the educational program.
    • Assisting students with complex needs, such as medical, physical, and learning requirements, providing daily care like feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene support.
    • Working directly with students at the Teacher's direction.
    • Preparing educational materials as needed.
    • Observing student behavior and reporting back to the Teacher.
    • Reviewing and preparing necessary documents and reports for the Teacher.
    • Helping the Teacher decide on actions for students.
    • Maintaining confidentiality in all interactions.
    • Meeting regularly with the Teacher to discuss student progress and learning needs.
    • Assisting in material preparation, displays creation, and other supportive tasks.
    • Operating within established structures like classroom management, behavioral rules, and IPP and Behavior Plan expectations.
    • Explaining lesson elements to struggling students.
    • Supervising reinforcement activities.
    • Implementing specific techniques and strategies directed by the Teacher.
    • Collecting data for student evaluations.
    • Grading objective tests for Teacher review.
    • Reporting to Teachers on student strengths, achievements, and needs.
    • Informing Teachers about observed student behaviors and outcomes.
    • Supervising students if needed.
    • Driving a bus.
    • Completing other duties as assigned by the school principal.
    • Staying updated on school, district, and relevant policies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • ECD training.
  • One to two years of experience working with children.

  • Proficiency with computers, iPads, whiteboards, and other educational resources.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for parent communication.
  • Clear verbal communication for interaction with all management levels.
