Social Services Program Planner:

We're looking for a mission-driven Social Services Program Planner who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.


Your Impact at CNIB:

  • Provides information to the residents of Sudbury and area regarding summer programming for people with sight loss.
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of CNIB programming for participants and special events.
  • Assists and provides guidance for individuals participating in CNIB programming.
  • Tracks attendance of program participants.
  • Executes invitation calls and followup calls to participants.
  • Connecting and updating vision mate records accordingly, maximizing outreach of vision mate recruitment in various communities.
  • Performs general administrative duties as required.
  • Increases education and awareness of CNIB (volunteer opportunities, general public awareness) through various communication channels, including social media, and community engagement.

Requirements:

Who you are:

Education and Certifications

  • University or community college student preferred.
  • Related Fields of Study include social services, disability studies, administration, communications, technology, customer service or equivalent work experience.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience working with the public.
  • Well developed interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office software.
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and execute a plan of action.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional attitude, self starter and flexible.
  • Demonstrates mature and sensitive nature when dealing with the needs of persons experiencing sight loss.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

Eligibility:

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs.

To be eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs initiative, individuals must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
  • Be a Canadian citizens, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. International students are not eligible participants. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
