Full-Time Contract for school year

GAD Elementary school is in search of intermediate teachers, specifically for grades 4-9. We are a school with a Sikh faith-based approach, aiming to create a collaborative and inquiry-based learning environment. The focus is on nurturing students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

As a seasoned, skilled, and forward-thinking educator, you play a vital role in inspiring students. Your involvement spans from planning to assessing student learning, showcasing confidence in curriculum development and teaching methodologies. By maximizing available resources, you bring innovative solutions to cater to diverse learning needs. Your student-centered and lively classes have earned you praise from students, colleagues, and parents for being approachable, knowledgeable, and supportive.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement a student-centered, inquiry-based, and collaborative teaching approach following the B.C. curriculum.
  • Incorporate First Nations principles of learning throughout your teaching practices.
  • Support individual learners' growth through differentiated learning techniques.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers to provide an exceptional learning experience.
  • Build strong relationships within the school community.
  • Set and work towards professional growth goals annually.
  • Participate actively in the co-curricular program.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:

  • Possess relevant university qualifications such as a Bachelor of Education paired with a Bachelor of Arts, Science, or equivalent.
  • Hold a B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of current educational practices.
  • Show commitment to teaching best practices and professional standards.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Be adaptable, flexible, and quick-thinking.
  • Have a dedication to ongoing professional development.
  • Bring energy, commitment, and a willingness to engage in the school's diverse life.
  • Be BC certified with COQ or SR Independent certificate.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.

Employment and Application Details:

The teaching contract will commence in September 2024 and run until June 2025. Employees at GAD Elementary receive competitive compensation, opportunities for professional growth, extended health benefits, and several paid sick days. The base pay for starting teachers with BC certification is $6160 per month for a 10-month term.
