The Opportunity:

The Third Party Residential Underwriting Division of First National Financial offers underwriting services to the Canadian Mortgage Broker channel. As a Residential Mortgage Underwriter, you will analyze credit applications, ensure compliance with policies, and focus on delivering exceptional service.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and nurture positive relationships with mortgage brokers to foster loyalty
  • Maintain strong partnerships with external stakeholders like mortgage insurers, appraisers, and solicitors
  • Review and make credit decisions on mortgage applications within set limits
  • Collaborate with Mortgage Insurers for credit decisions as necessary
  • Conduct thorough reviews of documentation to mitigate risks
  • Issue mortgage commitments in line with service level agreements
  • Prioritize applications based on risk assessments while ensuring excellent service
  • Stay updated on industry trends and market competition

Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2 years of mortgage underwriting experience
  • Completion of Mortgage Agent Course and/or FICOM License is a bonus
  • Proficiency in PC software within a Windows environment

First National will assist successful candidates in obtaining licensing per FICOM requirements if not already licensed upon joining. This includes necessary educational courses and exam registration.
