JOB DESCRIPTION:

_ Average assignment durations vary from 2 to 6 weeks._

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In consultation with physicians and the Health Center Charge Nurse, the Northern Nurse will work within an expanded scope of practice providing healthcare services to prenatal and adult patients for trauma and primary care, including delivery of newborns, treating minor acute illnesses and injuries, and conducting general treatment clinics
  • Strong assessment skills and proven ability to effectively communicate required along with exceptional interpersonal skills, and an ability to handle difficult situations in an objective consistent format
  • Adhere to Bayshore Policies and Procedures such as:
  • maintains confidentiality of client and corporate information
- infection prevention practices
- continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management System
- proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties.

  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualification

Education & Nursing License Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, and
- have or obtain a nursing license through the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)

Experience
- one (1) year of recent experience (total 1500 hours) working in remote, isolated or semi-isolated communities or
- two (2) years of experience (total 3000 hours) performing acute/critical care nursing activities in the:

  • Emergency Department and/or Intensive Care Unit or
  • An acute care setting (i.e. Urgent Care Clinic).

Other Skills and Abilities
***_All courses and qualifications will be reviewed/discussed at time of interview_

  • Current and valid CPR, ACLS, PALS certifications
  • ITLS / TNCC
  • Proof of COVID Vaccinations
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector check _(must be within 12 months)_ _
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate
  • Must have valid Canadian driver's license
  • Must complete a Federal Security Screening with fingerprints.
  • Controlled Drug Substance Course
  • Pre-Employment Medical Evaluation

Bayshore HealthCare's Northern Nursing program has provided high-quality community health relief staffing services to Indigenous and northern communities since 1997.

You'll work closely with diverse Indigenous communities (First Nations, Inuit and Métis), providing care to everyone from newborns to elders.
