Position
The Faculty of Health Sciences has an opening for one probationary (tenure-track) position in the Indigenous Health major. The successful candidate will coordinate the program, teach undergraduate courses, work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders to review program outcomes and develop, where necessary, new programming, and develop a community-focused program of research. The position will commence on July 1, 2024.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a Ph.D. or be in progress on a Ph.D. in a community health field or related discipline, with a strong focus on health for Indigenous communities. A practice background and applied advocacy and policy experience would be an asset. Knowledge of traditional Aboriginal health concepts and Indigenous ways of knowing are essential. Highly developed professional judgment and professional boundaries in working with students and agencies in practicum settings and experience in effectively managing complex issues across multiple contexts are necessary. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are required. Teaching experience at the post-secondary level is necessary. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated and deep knowledge of and connection to Indigenous communities, ideally the Siksikaitsitapi (Blackfoot) community, as well as success in contributing to anti-racist and anti-colonial scholarship and in planning and delivering collaborative research with Indigenous communities. Familiarity with current and potential collaborations and communication networks between Siksikaitsitapi and University of Lethbridge is crucial.
