Job Description:

What you can expect in a typical day

We are currently seeking a Machinery Analysis Technician to join our team at our refinery in Saint John, NB. In this role, you will perform condition monitoring by acquiring and analyzing data.

Condition monitoring technologies include vibration data, oil sample collection, ultrasound data collection, performance monitoring and other testing for rotating and reciprocating industrial equipment.

You will interpret results, evaluate, and document the condition of machinery.

Your understanding of condition monitoring data, machine performance, operational and maintenance data, will give you the knowledge to effectively perform these tasks within our Condition Monitoring Program and support a Safe & Reliable operation of the refinery.

Your time will be spent approximately 60/40 between being in an office environment and outside in the plant, year-round in all weather conditions and you may be required to respond to machinery issues outside of normal business hours.

Your roles and responsibilities:

  • Monitor rotating equipment condition and investigate issues
  • Interpret drawings, diagrams, and specifications on a variety of industrial equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with Area Maintenance and Operations team to provide recommendations for equipment based on findings from condition monitoring activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machinery issues.


Professional skills- Safety as a way-of-life mindset.- Able to bend, stoop, crawl, lift up to 40lbs, enter confined spaces, climb ladders up to 50'.

You must be willing and able to wear all PPE as required.- Good analytical skills.- Strong verbal and written communication skills.- Willingness to learn and earn certifications relevant to this field.- Good working knowledge of MS Office; Word and Excel.

Education and experience- Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Journeyman trade status.- Up to 2 years of industrial plant operation or maintenance experience.- Working knowledge of rotating equipment and vibration fundamentals, Vibration Analyst certification (ISO would be considered an asset.- Machinery Lubrication Technician or Analyst certification would be considered an asset.- Experience with handheld data collectors for centrifugal or reciprocating machines and analysis software would be considered an asset.- Experience with Oracle eAM or similar computerized maintenance management systems would be considered an asset.
