We are seeking a Director of Aviation Security to lead, guide, and manage the operations, service delivery, and business growth of our airline screening operations, airside safety escort program, and terminal building security services at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). At our Airport Branch, every day is unique, and our collaborative teams work together to ensure the safety of our global clientele.

Role & Responsibilities:

Strategic/Business Planning

  • Collaborate with senior management and branch/regional managers in the strategic planning process to align YVR Branch plans with the overall corporate strategy.
  • Partner with the Director of Finance to create and finalize revenue targets and operating budgets for the YVR Branch.
  • Facilitate the planning and execution of new business opportunities and joint ventures, ensuring alignment with Securiguard's vision and values.

Operations Management

  • Manage, monitor, and report on key performance indicators for all aspects of service delivery within the YVR Branch.
  • Implement and document streamlined processes to enhance efficiencies and communication among frontline, operations, and administrative teams.
  • Ensure all services meet the standards of the company's Quality Assurance Audit process.
  • Oversee execution of contractual agreements for staff and customers, ensuring service commitments are fulfilled.
  • Address operational issues, provide problem-solving resources, and ensure adequate staffing to meet business and contract demands.
  • Collective Bargaining Agreement management and oversight, including negotiation and amendments; regular liaison with associated business agents.
  • Identify cost savings and operational resiliency through the sourcing and implementation of innovative strategies, technologies.
  • Maintain oversight of equipment inventory management and administration, ensuring inventory and procurement initiatives are aligned and cost-efficient

People Leadership

  • Recruit, retain, and develop the operations and administration teams to meet the branch's goals and objectives.
  • Provide regular performance feedback, recognize contributions, and support professional growth through development plans.
  • Conduct regular team meetings for process reviews, goal setting, issue resolution, and team building.
  • Act as a mentor to regional branch managers, ensuring alignment and information flow within the management team.
  • Coordinate the development and application of training program frameworks

Business Development

  • Develop and maintain key account relationships, organizing regular reviews to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Pursue new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and referrals, aiming to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
  • Participate in proposal strategy development, identifying appropriate security solutions for customers.
  • Deliver presentations to existing and potential customers, partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with corporate and government agencies on matters concerning aviation security.

Skills & Experience:

  • University degree, college diploma, or relevant experience in airport operations, personnel management, business management, human resources, and/or security.
  • Security certification/designation is an asset.
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in an operational setting of a service business, with success in business development, key account management, or sales.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic/business planning, operations management, people leadership, and business development.
  • Preferred experience in the security industry or law enforcement, particularly within aviation.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to develop and close new business, maintaining focus throughout long sales cycles.
  • Financial acumen to analyze results, assess metrics, and drive performance.
  • Strong understanding of customer service concepts and a commitment to ensuring customer loyalty.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, coupled with highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows, MS Office, MS Project, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Willingness to travel periodically within the region (Vancouver and Fraser Valley).
