Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Joint Health & Safety Committee and provide meeting management, documentation, inspection schedules, policy review.
  • Support the design and implementation of policies and procedures, and ensure that hazard identification is recorded, and site safety compliance is maintained.
  • Promote health and safety values and deliver health and safety training on health and safety policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Encourage a positive health and safety reporting culture by supporting staff and managers to ensure all accidents and incidents are reported and recorded in an open, accurate and timely manner.
  • Regularly conduct workplace inspections, proactively recognize, and prevent dangerous situations and take necessary actions to remedy them.
  • Ensure compliance of employees and Subcontractors to all safety plans.
  • Ensure that equipment on site is compliant with general and specified industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain a list of job specific task hazards and controls needed based for each job within the company.
  • Identify and anticipate health & safety concerns and hazards by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions; investigate violations & recommend evidence based preventative measures.
  • Address employee safety concerns and questions in conjunction with local H&S rep.
  • Lead incident investigations identifying root causes and assisting in the development of meaningful corrective actions.
  • Maintain the JHSC boards with uptodate policies, emergency evacuation procedures, and health and safety information.
  • Maintain health and safety records for employees.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Postsecondary education in Health and Safety
  • CPR/ First Aid Certified
  • 2+ years experience in Health & Safety in the Construction field
  • Strong understanding of Health and Safety legislative requirements
  • Joint Health & Safety Committee Part 1 &
  • Sound / ethical judgment, strong leadership skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Conflict management and problemsolving skills
  • Multitasking ability
  • Comfortable working with all levels of an organization
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle is a must

Salary:
$38.45-$40.87 per hour
