Research Engineer

As aSenior Research Engineer– Advanced Concepts (AC),you work with a highly technical interdisciplinary group of forward-thinkers to generate knowledge, apply are search and engineering point-of-view, and deliver solutions for the mountain athlete everywhere.
With support from your team, you drive and contribute to technical projects across all product categories.You apply your curiosity and experience in solving complex problems to the intersection of outdoor apparel and equipment and cutting-edge innovation.
This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. We are a team of builders, problem solvers and outdoor enthusiasts.Our in-house, end-to-end capabilities in research, engineering, design, development, digital experience, and product validation allow us to innovate head-to-toe solutions that bring the coast mountain experience to the world.
If you were a Senior Research Engineer - Advanced Concepts, now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:Defining science-based project objectives, developing robust performance evaluation methodologies and creating technical solutions in support of the Advanced Concepts priority projects
Leadingt he performance evaluation processes for Advanced Concepts projects through validating research hypotheses and scientific POVs, testing both on athletes and in the laboratory
Discovering product insights through completing applied research on our mountain athletes and translating findings into innovative solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams
Creating new test methods and processes that translate connect testing in the mountains to testing in our laboratory and on materials
Building infrastructure so that testing protocols, data assessment and reporting is consistent, easily shared and centrally regulated
Advising on the most modern testing and analysis equipment for our Research and Engineering (R&D) function
Partnering with both academic and industry partners to bring in specialized expertise and equipment
Designing and fabricating novel test fixtures and equipment, to support in product performance validation
Partnering with AC leadership to maintain a robust Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio, proprietary solutions and exclusivity on materials projects with in alignment with the Legal team
Partnering with the Innovation Operations team on R&D specific resourcing opportunities, including funding, academic and internship programs (SR&ED, IRAP, NRC, MITACS, and so forth)
Building data and testing capabilities to connect science-based numbers to the product and field evaluations
Are you our next Senior Research Engineer - Advanced Concepts?
You have a master's degree in engineering or research, specializing in mechanical, biomedical, sports, biomechanics or kinesiology
You have 7+years of technical apparel and/or equipment experience in product innovation, applied research, engineering and/or performance validation environment
You have 5+ years of experience in a technical role in the product creation industry
You have experience with experimental design, data collection and analysis, as well as dissemination of findings
You have experience with creating and executing performance validation strategies for technical products
You are energized by problem solving in the fields of applied human research, advanced manufacturing, and performance validation in both the athlete /science lab enviornments
You are experienced in identifying, creating and protectingIP with internal and external legal teams
You have a deep understanding of technical apparel and/or performance hard goods design and/or production
You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
A reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$104,000 - CAD$160,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
