Position and Responsibilities


In support of Cameco's exploration projects, you will be an integral part of a project team, assisting in the execution of exploration drill programs in search for the next world-class uranium deposit.

As a member of the exploration team, you will be a technical lead on projects, ensuring that relevant geoscientific data and observations are collected from drill programs.

You will ensure high quality geological observations and interpretations are made in both the field and office, share oversight of exploration field operations including supervision of contractors and geological team members, and oversee contractor management and SHEQ programs.

You must be committed to developing a strong safety and environment culture, promoting it through Cameco's safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) management systems.


This is a one-year temporary position.

Other responsibilities include:
- mentoring and training of junior personnel
- assisting with logging operations, including logging, sampling or splitting of drill core and handling core boxes
- creating and maintaining interpretive geological cross sections and maps
- spotting of drill trails and drill holes, site inspections and drilling contractor supervision, and
- data entry, compilation, interpretation and reporting

Education and Qualifications

Requirements of the position:

  • Bachelor's degree in geology or geological engineering
  • You must be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
  • At least five years of relevant work in mineral exploration of hydrothermal systems
  • Ability to work in remote locations for extended periods of time
  • Digital literacy with various office and geological software programs
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills and willing to work in a team environment

Assets:

  • First Aid, ATV, watercraft, and/or snowmobile training
  • GIS and 3D geological modelling
  • Graduate degree in geology
  • Previous uranium experience
Preference will be given to qualified Residents of Saskatchewan's North.
