THE OPPORTUNITY
Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd.

("Triton") is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic
Vegetation/Wetlands Ecologist to join a well-established team of environmental professionals based out of our
Halifax, NS office location.

This position will involve working out of town for periods of time, helping to support Triton's western Canada projects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing wetlands ecological expertise to field staff and project management teams
  • Conducting wetland surveys, assessments, and monitoring in Nova Scotia, British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan
  • Providing technical wetlands support to project teams.
  • Managing tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work and schedule
  • Liaising with onsite client representatives and contractors
  • Providing independent technical review for proposals and project deliverables
  • Providing a fulsome understanding of environmental best management practices and advising client and project teams accordingly
  • Working collaboratively across project and corporatelevel teams

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology, ecology, soil science, or a related field
  • Environmental Professional (EP), Professional Agrologist, Professional Biologist, or Registered Professional Biologist certification is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with wetland regulatory regimes in Nova Scotia, British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan
  • Wetland Delineation and Wetland Ecosystem Services Protocol
  • Atlantic Canada (WESP-AC) training considered an asset.
  • An Authenticating Wetlands Professional designation is considered an asset to work in Alberta.
  • Specific to Alberta, experience preparing Wetlands Assessment and Impact Forms, Wetlands Assessment and Impact Reports, and the Wetland Rapid Evaluation Tool
  • 4 or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience conducting a broad variety of wetlandsspecific scopes of work in both pre‐construction and construction settings
  • Technical reporting, communication, and project managementrelated skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
  • Superior problemsolving skills, with the ability to think outside the box
  • Valid driver's licence from a Canadian province or territory, acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting

SCHEDULE
This is a field-based position that will have a rotational fly in and fly out shift schedule.

This position requires being able to work in remote physically demanding field settings, for extended durations, while staying in a mix of camp and/or hotel accommodations.

DURATION
This is a temporary contract role, targeted to start approximately June 30 and going until October 31, 2024. There is potential for a contract extension or full-time position based on the volume of work and performance.
