The Westin Toronto Airport is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor with excellent customer service skills and a proven track record in maintenance and repairs. This role is ideal for someone dedicated to assisting the Chief Engineer in overseeing the physical building structure and supervising maintenance and repairs. Join our team and play a crucial role in creating a personal, instinctive, and renewing environment for our guests.

What will you be doing?
  • Supervises and assists engineering staff in the maintenance and repair of plumbing, hotel rooms, A/C and heating, ice machine, swimming pools, lighting, kitchen equipment, refrigeration, laundry, emergency generators, switch rooms, etc.
  • Ensures all maintenance and repairs are completed on a timely basis and according to specifications.
  • Assists in maintaining an ongoing preventative maintenance program for the hotel.
  • Assists the Chief Engineer in administering and documenting equipment preventative maintenance and guest room preventative maintenance.
  • Responsible for the safety of the department and the building.
  • Ensures all maintenance and repairs are completed on a timely basis and according to specifications.
  • Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Always provides a professional image through appearance and dress.
  • Follows company policies and procedures and can effectively communicate them to subordinates.
  • Conducts training classes regarding safety, security, department procedures and service guidelines.
  • Ensures the hotel follows all federal, provincial, and municipal laws, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Human Rights Code and Employment Standards Act.
  • Ensures all fire and safety inspections are completed and any discrepancies are corrected.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What are the requirements for this role?
  • Some college or advanced vocational training plus two years of experience in general building maintenance and/or construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Hotel maintenance and supervisory experience preferred. Professional certification and license if required by law.
  • This job requires the ability to perform the following:
  • Carrying, lifting, pushing and/or pulling items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently standing up and moving about the facility
  • Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility.
  • Frequently bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and crawling
  • Other:
  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with the other supervisors, hotel staff and hotel guests.
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized to document or record all tasks completed, to order supplies, to receive their instructions for the day and/or to read equipment repair manuals.
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances are utilized frequently.
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, motivational, organizational, and training abilities are used often.
