In partnership with Interior Health Pulmonary Rehab program; work with Interior Health Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Physical Therapist and Respiratory Therapist staff to deliver in-person group exercise classes to clients who have mild to moderate chronic lung disease.

Encourage smooth transitions for clients from Pulmonary Rehab into YMCA Breathe Well program

Other administrative tasks related to the Interior Health Pulmonary Rehab partnership

Supervision of YMCA Health Promotion Programs including: Health Hips & Knees, Healthy Hearts, Breathe Well, and Healthy Aging and Exercise is Medicine at all 3 YMCA centers; H2O, Kelowna Family Y, Downtown YMCA

Utilizing CSEP-CEP guidelines, carry out intake and ongoing assessment of Health Promotion Program participants and any Y members who have health concerns beyond the scope of practice of a regular fitness leader.

Provide client centered one-on-one coaching and exercise prescription to clients with chronic health conditions to help individuals maintain functional independence and quality of life

Collaborate with the Manager and colleagues to create a culture of exceptional customer experience and community for members, staff, and volunteers

Lead specialty health group fitness classes

Provide education, leadership and coaching for all fitness staff to enhance their ability to identify and work with Y members at risk of developing chronic health conditions.

Deliver exceptional health and fitness programs and services as per YMCA Health Coaching and CSEP standards and best practices

Plan, organize and implement Seniors Health Assessments twice a year

Supervision of UBCO practicum students

Ensure safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures and ensuring they are maintained amongst all members and staff

Actively participate in and promote philanthropy through the YMCA Association initiatives

We'd love to hear from people with:
  • Current CSEP CEP (Clinical Exercise Physiologist) certification
  • Current Weight training/Personal Training Certificate by a recognized governing body (e.g. BCRPA, CFES, CSEP)
  • Current Standard First-Aid with CPR-C certification
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Group Fitness Instruction Certification is an asset (e.g. Cycle, Aqua, Strength, Yoga)
  • Commitment to Mission, Vision and Values: Demonstrates and promotes a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision, and values of the YMCA of Southern Interior BC.
  • Service Orientated: Deliberately identifies and creates opportunities to enhance each and every individual's YMCA experience. Creates action plans to resolve any service gap areas.
  • Relationship Building and Collaboration: Builds positive interactions, listens attentively and communicates effectively to create an open communication environment. Share information, best practices, and resources with colleagues.
Additional Information:
  • 2 year contract with opportunity to extend
  • Starting hourly wage is $24.91-$27.62 based on experience and qualifications
