Role Summary:
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Director, Financial Reporting to join our expanding finance team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Director will have a key role in preparing and presenting the company's consolidated financial results and enhancing overall financial performance. This position offers significant opportunities for professional growth, ideal for a CPA with expertise in leadership, technical skills, and consolidation.
Location:
  • This role is based in Toronto, ON, and involves 10% travel within Canada.

Financial Reporting:
  • Oversee the accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for all entities, including the consolidation.
  • Coordinate the annual audit process.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in setting financial policies and procedures for new projects.
  • Act as the main contact for external parties regarding financial compliance.
  • Communicate financial results and significant accounting issues to senior management and the board of directors.
  • Continuously improve accounting tools and processes.
  • Conduct financial analysis to interpret results and provide insights into performance.

Tax:
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns.
  • Manage tax audits and develop tax strategies.

Finance Project Leadership:
  • Lead accounting system implementation and support financing activities.
  • Support ad hoc projects in a dynamic organizational environment.

Internal Controls:
  • Develop and monitor internal controls according to industry standards.
  • Assess control effectiveness and address any deficiencies.

Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead and support the accounting team across Canada.
  • Provide mentorship and training to enhance technical skills.
  • Implement training programs for team development.

Desired Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of financial statement experience.
  • CPA qualification with a degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards.
  • Proven track record in team management.
  • High-energy self-starter with a sense of urgency for best practices.
  • Experience in accurately reporting financial analysis.
  • Team player with professional interaction skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct and multi-site operations is a plus.
  • French language skills are an asset.
