Little Readers Teacher/Tutor Wanted

Oxford Learning Kerrisdale is in need of part-time teacher-tutors for a position at our learning center. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who have a passion for working with students, take pleasure in teaching language intricacies, and are dedicated to aiding others in enhancing their abilities in this field.

Tutor-teachers at Oxford Learning never have to worry about planning lessons in advance, as all lessons are pre-arranged. Successful applicants will undergo comprehensive training in our exclusive philosophy and techniques.

Position Requirements

Little Readers Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work 2-5 days per week during afternoon hours, specifically from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm, and may also work Saturday mornings (9:00 am - 12:00 pm). The center is also operational during the summer. Your commitment and reliability are vital in this role.

This position requires physical presence; you should be able to commute to the location as it is not an online role. A mandatory vulnerable sector screening is obligatory.

We encourage candidates to apply if they possess most of the following qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a related field
  • University students with extensive tutoring experience will be taken into consideration
  • Teaching certification is a plus
  • Solid understanding of the present Kindergarten to Grade 7 curriculum

Experience:

  • Experience in teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 7 (or equivalent) level
  • Proficient in written and verbal English communication, able to effectively guide students
  • Capacity to multitask and handle up to three students simultaneously

Responsibilities (Position Details)

The Little Readers program is a comprehensive reading program designed for children aged 3-6, focusing on building fundamental skills essential for learning and excelling.

Little Readers teachers utilize exclusive materials to instruct students on letter names, sounds, phonics, reading, comprehension, vocabulary, writing, and fine motor skills.

As an Interactive Coach, you will directly engage with our younger students with the following responsibilities:

  • Teach up to 3 students simultaneously at varying levels
  • Conduct in-person teaching
  • Adhere to Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Complete post-lesson notes
  • Provide daily student communication updates
  • Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor consistently
