Lex Engineering Ltd. ('Lex') is a medium-sized consulting engineering firm with offices in Burnaby, Kelowna, and Canmore. Our team comprises professional engineers, designers, drafters, and administrators, and we take great pride in our entrepreneurial culture.

Since 1979, we have offered a wide range of industrial power and control engineering services, including power system studies, design development, feasibility studies, procurement, construction support, and commissioning. Lex has designed over 80 high voltage substations, numerous power distribution systems within plant facilities, and several hundred kilometers of transmission and distribution lines. Our market sector includes various industries such as public and private utilities, heavy industry, educational institutions, the forest sector, mines, and more. We are seeking a Junior Electrical/Design Engineer EIT to join our electrical design group in Burnaby, BC. In this role, you will work in a team environment on a variety of design projects for underground and overhead systems, including transmission, distribution, substation design, and power system studies. Having a sense of humor and an entrepreneurial mindset would make you a great fit for our company.

Responsibilities
  • Essential knowledge of HV systems and associated equipment.
  • Work under the guidance of a Principal Engineer on substation layout design.
  • Apply all relevant codes, industry, and client standards for high voltage substation design.
  • Prepare various technical drawings and documentation.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure design conformance.
  • Review engineering outputs for compliance.
  • Organize project engineering and vendor data.
  • Assist in maintaining internal engineering standards.
Education, Training & Experience
  • Require a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered as an EIT with EGBC or APEGA.
Skills & Abilities
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Entry Level Position. Previous experience with HV Substation designs in North America is advantageous.
  • Experience with drafting software like MicroStation or AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Class 5 Drivers license needed.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8-hour days

This position offers a Salary range of $30-42 per hour.
