Role Description

This full-time position as a Bakery Maintenance Worker in Calgary, Alberta, demands on-site presence and involves conducting maintenance tasks for bakery equipment and general building upkeep. Responsibilities encompass equipment maintenance, utilizing power tools, carpentry, plumbing, and proactive maintenance efforts.

Working under the Maintenance Supervisor's supervision and receiving guidance from Production Managers/Supervisors during the Maintenance Supervisor's absence, the Maintenance Worker ensures the continuous operation and maintenance of Calgary Italian Bakery's facility and production equipment. This is achieved by adhering to programs such as HACCP, BRC, SSOP, Preventive Maintenance, and Occupational Health and Safety.

Shift Schedule:

The Maintenance Team operates on rotating shifts, necessitating flexibility. Every 4 months, the schedule undergoes adjustments. Weekend work may be needed for special projects, and occasional overtime might be mandatory in emergency situations.

  • 6am to 2pm
  • 2pm to 10pm
  • 10pm to 6am

Wage: $35-$42/hour

Duties and Responsibilities

· Conduct preventive maintenance and repair of production equipment like air compressors, boilers, and some metal fabrication.

· Minimize unscheduled downtime by maintaining equipment productivity.

· Respond promptly to maintenance calls with a sense of ownership.

· Deliver high-quality service while complying with Food Safety, OH&S policies, SSOP, etc., recognizing internal customer needs.

· Record and follow all maintenance schedules and preventative maintenance reports.

· Ensure compliance with HACCP and CFIA guidelines regarding oils, lubricants, and chemicals utilized for equipment maintenance.

· Perform parts and tools reconciliations post-repair and on each shift.

· Notify Maintenance Supervisor when inventory levels are low.

· Adhere to company standards and regulations, reporting issues to supervisors.

· Maintain tools used for equipment repairs and aid coworkers in emergencies.

· Report food safety or mechanical problems and collaborate effectively with colleagues.

· Foster cooperation, initiative, and effective communication within the team.

· Ensure a safe workplace by following OH&S procedures and utilizing protective equipment.

· Undertake any other assigned duties.

Qualifications

· Experience in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.

· Proficiency in using power tools and carpentry knowledge.

· Basic understanding of plumbing systems.

· Proven background in preventive maintenance and strong attention to detail.

· Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.

· Previous bakery industry experience is advantageous.

· Mechanical aptitude and safety training such as First Aid and Confined Spaces.

· Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

· Possession of a Valid Journeyperson ticket and basic security clearance.

· Strong organizational, time management, dependability, and reliability skills.
