Northstar Frontier Services works with our railroad clients to provide catering and janitorial services across Canada.

We are currently looking for someone to manage our Health & Safety Programs who will utilize our existing policies and help create and implement new policies as required.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, this position involves reviewing and evaluating workplace practices, compliance auditing, training, and reporting as required by Federal legislation.

Our Head Office is based in Sudbury, remote work arrangements are possible.


We are looking for an individual that has attained a College Diploma in a relevant field with a strong working knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety in a Federally regulated workplace.


General Duties

  • Generate and promote a positive Health and Safety culture throughout the company
  • Create policies and safe operating procedures, implement and monitor their efficiency
  • Prepare and maintain H&S documentation.
  • Conduct incident/accident investigations and prepare appropriate documentation when required.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to out of town locations to verify policies and procedures are being properly implemented and identify any new risks
  • Develop a network of Health and Safety resources
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of training matrices, incident/injury reports.
  • Administer online Health and Safety training (NORCAT)
  • Organize Safe Food Handling, First Aid/CPR courses for new employees and ensure existing employees are trained and all employees are kept current
  • Lead inhouse/off site training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks
  • Recommend and implement changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation
  • Maintain all records related to Health and Safety
  • Carry out accident investigations and produce subsequent reports and recommendations
  • Maintain ISNetworld, EcoVadis status
  • Report hazards and incidents to pertinent governmental agencies (HOIR, WVHOIR, etc)
  • Responsible for ordering, tracking and distributing required PPE and equipment
  • Responsible for maintaining communication with Health & Safety Representatives in multiple locations across Canada.
  • Responsible for preventative and reactive site inspections, must have the availability to travel extensively.
  • Other duties as required by management

Qualifications

  • College Diploma in related field
  • CRST or CRSP designation is an asset
  • Minimum 3 year's experience in Health & Safety role
  • Competence with office administration is required.
  • Must be very organized selfstarter with strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Enjoys working in a fastpaced environment and meeting tight deadlines
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.
  • Unrestricted Class G license
