Aggregates Labourer

Summary


This position's main responsibility is to monitor and maintain overhead and portable conveyors, assisting rail operations along with any other tasks required to maintain safe operations of the Acheson aggregate site.


Duties/Tasks:

  • Positively participate in company safety program and adhere to all safety requirements
  • Promote and participate in Goal Zero Initiative
  • Perform tasks as directed by Foreperson
  • Monitoring conveyors and adjusting during off loading of rail cars and setup as required
  • General site cleanup
  • Maintaining safe operation of all conveyors including, but not limited to, changing rollers, preventative maintenance of basic electrical controls
  • Assisting with unloading of railcars of aggregate
  • Assisting with equipment maintenance and/or operation as directed
  • Other duties as required

Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to take direction, learn and develop new skills as required for the role
  • Must be reliable
  • Must exhibit a strong work ethic
  • Must be able to perform heavy manual labor under adverse weather conditions
  • Familiar with the materials, tools and machinery used
  • Conveyor experience is an asset
  • Ability to operate skid steer
  • Must be mechanically inclined

Experience/Education:

  • Valid driver's license (Class 5), with own transportation.
  • Previous rail knowledge preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience with conveyors is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Typical shifts are Monday to Saturday, anywhere from 8 to 16 hours per day.
  • Seasonal position approximately ending in midNovember.
  • Travel may be required for training
  • Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required
