  • To liaise between Community Residential Facility (CRF) Caseload Clients, Institutional and Parole Office staff and to provide individual Counselling/Assistance to CRF Client caseload under the direction of the Manager.
  • Work with parole officer assigned to the highrisk offender, CSC staff and, when appropriate, relevant members of the community mental health team (including discharge planners and community mental health specialists), in developing releases/intervention plans as well as monitoring activities following release.
  • Provide ongoing support to the offender during the time he is a resident of the CRF and ensure that the transition to less restrictive movement is managed in a way which enhances the possibility of successful reintegration into society.

Hours:

  • 37.5 hours per week

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains CRF caseload of 10 + clients and provides assistance, counselling and serving as liaison between client and respective Parole Officer.
  • Conducts weekly meetings with caseload clients and maintains records
  • Develops Resident Action Plan (rap), consistent with the offender's Correctional Plan, with the participation of the offender and the supervising Parole Officer. It must be completed within thirty (30) days of the offender's arrival at the facility.
  • Provides progress review at least once every fortyfive (45) days in order to assess the offender's progress in relations to the RAP, and to determine whether the services are adequate, still necessary, or whether other services may be needed.
  • Uploads RAPs and Reviews to Offender Management System (OMS) and provides hard copy reports to the Parole Office for the required signatures.
  • Liaises with community parole/case management team.
  • Maintains and updates CRF caseload file information as directed by the Manager: CRF (i.e. Running Interview notes; CSC file documentation).
  • Attends and provides weekly case management update at weekly case management meetings.
  • Must be prepared to participate in upgrading/training at the discretion of the CRF management.
  • Facilitates CRF programs as directed by CRF Management.
  • Performs CRF Intake Counsellor role.
  • Must have an intimate working knowledge of The Salvation Army NHC and CRF policies and procedures with all actions based on strict adherence to same.
  • Conscientiously observes the confidential nature of the NHC's service to its clients and all residents of the CRF.
  • Receives all clients and residents in a professional manner.
  • Monitors access to and security of the CRF/NHC.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess postsecondary education related to criminology, psychology or social work
  • A minimum of two year's related experience
  • Must understand and reflect the ARC Philosophy, Standards, and Tenets.
  • Must possess suitable typing skills, and basic computer literacy
  • Must be calm in busy and sometimes stressful situations.
  • Must be well organized.
  • Must be presentable in appearance in accordance with NHC standards.
  • Must possess a valid class 5 Driver's License.
  • Must possess and maintain an active valid First AidC.P.R. certificate.
  • Must have effective oral and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to understand and be sensitive to cultural differences.

From $27.24 per hour
