You will track development applications in the City of Toronto for the duration of the life cycle, providing updates every 90 days. You will contribute to the reliability and accuracy of our databases, and play an active part in the generation of reports and presentations for our real estate clients.

What's in it for you

Career growth. You are a driven new or recent grad, passionate about real estate, research, and working with data. You will play a critical role in a diverse, collaborative team, sharing best practices, and thriving in a non-competitive environment. You will have an opportunity to learn directly from senior members, gain exposure to advanced industry-leading databases, and be part of a company that promotes from within. You will have the chance to move up to a Research Market Analyst and across into Professional Services as you deepen your experience.

Exposure. Our Data Solutions group collects and publishes national real estate data that is consistent, accurate, timely, credible, transparent and independent. It provides and supports a range of services, from in-depth market surveys to independent market commentary and benchmarking. The data you collect and verify will be used across many of our business groups.

Our new Research Coordinator will:

  • Research and monitor. You will conduct detailed research and analysis on development applications, including Official Plan and Rezoning Amendments, Site Plan, Subdivision, and Condominium Approvals, and Local Planning Appeal Tribunal decisions. You will monitor the status of new and active development applications by regularly checking municipal websites, reviewing planning reports, Council/Committee/LPAT Minutes, etc.
  • Become the SME. You will become familiar with the planning frameworks and municipal planning processes in major markets in Ontario. You will track all potential developments and municipal planning initiatives through industry announcements and news media.
  • Build relationships. You will work closely across multiple internal and external teams.
  • Ensure accuracy. You will maintain and review the database to enter information, pursue missing details, and ensure accuracy.

Our new Research Coordinator will have:

  • Education and experience. You have a degree or diploma and an interest in Real Estate. You may have a year of work experience or completed a co-op term or internship in data entry and analysis, or in real estate, where you've conducted research, collected data and disseminated information pertaining to commercial properties.
  • Technical skills. You have finely tuned skills in data collection, data interpretation, and compiling information; you know where data resides in the system and how data entries and changes may impact data in other parts of the system. You are proficient with Excel, Outlook , and PowerPoint.
  • Interpersonal skills. You have flexible and effective communication skills, and you can leverage insights, clarify ambiguities, and present complex information in a structured and accessible way. You have the confidence to make phone calls to new contacts to retrieve property/project information and nurture connections in person. You are a team player who can build trusting relationships within and across teams.
  • Flexibility. You are willing and able to work outside of business hours on occasion; and have a valid driver's license.
