Introduction

Manitoba Prosecution Service is tasked with prosecuting a wide range of offenses in Manitoba, as outlined in provincial statutes, the federal Criminal Code of Canada, and The Youth Criminal Justice Act. Crown Attorneys working for the Manitoba Prosecution Service are part of the Manitoba Association of Crown Attorneys, and details of the collective agreement can be accessed.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Eligible for immediate membership or membership (in good standing) with the Law Society of Manitoba
  • A valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's License
  • Enhanced Security Screening; Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check & Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Evening and weekend work as required
  • Ability to travel by road, air, and small watercraft, including overnight stays

Duties:

As a Crown Attorney, you will be responsible for providing prosecutorial services related to cases falling under the Criminal Code of Canada and provincial statutes, within the provincial and superior courts. Additionally, your responsibilities will include offering legal opinions, assessing police reports, and providing guidance to the police regarding charges and investigations. The ideal candidate will also be involved in community engagement and legal education, specifically in the field of criminal law and procedures, representing the Manitoba Prosecution Service.
