Recreation Programmer

Duration:
Regular Part Time

Schedule: 48 hours bi-weekly (0.Thursday to Saturday from 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM


The goal of the City of Burnaby and its employees is to consistently deliver first class service and services to our community.

The incumbent hires and trains part-time and full-time aquatic supervisors for instructional and lifeguarding staff; plans, assigns, supervises checks and evaluates the work of same and recruits and trains volunteers; promotes interest and participation in program activities and establishes and maintains liaison with community groups, the general public, and/or school officials; Qualifications include graduation from a community college in a related field plus sound related experience including some supervisory experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Sound knowledge of the recreational interests needs and resources of the community served; the policies, procedures, rules, and regulations governing the work performed; teaching methods and group leadership techniques related to the work.

Ability to assist in planning, developing, scheduling, coordinating, and implementing aquatic recreational programs which meet the needs and interests of the community served; present ideas and viewpoints effectively both orally and in writing.

A valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
