What You'll Do


As the Field Technician/Surveyor, you will will work in collaboration with the Blasters and customers and be responsible for the surveying, implementing and staking out blast designs, bore deviation measurements, providing drill logs, 3D face profiling and generate required technical reports.

The Field Technician may also be involved in various projects related to the explosive site and blasting activities.

Other duties will include:

  • Addressing product complaints, resolving problems, blast design, safe and effective use of explosives in alignment with customer's requirements at locations serviced by Dyno Nobel North America (DNNA).
  • Comply with applicable regulatory health and safety policies and practices in order to ensure personal safety and the safety of all employees, company assets, environment and regulatory compliance
  • Contribute to achieving budgeted customer profitability and ensure quality of service by minimizing losses related to blasting.
  • Conduct preblast surveys e.g. face profiles, borehole deviation measurements, blast geometry measurements, product sampling, safety audits, etc.
  • Conduct blast performance measurements, e.g. digital highspeed video, vibration monitoring, velocity of detonation, dynamic pressure, etc.
  • Conduct post blast assessments, etc. fragmentation measurement, time studies, volumetric measurements, blast reporting & documentation.
  • Conduct time studies on personnel and equipment throughout an operation including: drill and blast operations, truckshovel loading, dragline, dozer assist, crushing processing, etc.
  • Respond professionally and timely to address problems and business requests.
  • Understand and enhance service requirements to continually improve customer profitability.

What We're Looking For:

  • Diploma in Surveying/Mine Technology and /or University degree in Mining, Geotechnical, Mineral, Geological, Civil, Industrial and / or metallurgical engineering.
  • Previous related work experience preferred
  • Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Business Acumen, knowledge of regional market place and customer service orientation.
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Good physical condition is required with the ability to handle 25 kilograms.


Valid drivers license
  • Daily travel within province is required (will be provided with company car and cell phone)
