The Director of Health and Social Development is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and evaluation of a management team that administers programs and services to the organization and community as they relate to health and wellness.

The Director of Health and Social Development must ensure that all programs and services are delivered in a manner that meets legislative guidelines while providing equal opportunity to all community members.

The Director of Health and Social Development will oversee division managers to ensure excellence in the provision of services.

The Director makes recommendations to the Executive Director on the overall direction, leadership, policy and management of division programs and services that are consistent with OKIB principles.

Develops strategic plans, priorities, objectives, budgets and evaluation criteria for the health and wellness departments
Directs and executes risk management programs
Accountable for ensuring programs are delivered on-time, on budget within scope and in compliance with all regulatory requirements
Assist in the development of the departments Strategic Plan and manage the implementation process
Manage and evaluate staff through continuous consultation, coaching and professional development plans
Manages organizational relationships at the senior management to executive level
Prepare and present quarterly reports as directed by the Executive Director
Act as a central focal point for health and wellness program funding for community members as appropriate, to ensure a coordinated, consistent approach to funding issues and reporting
Develop and maintain community contacts and other networks to assist in the promotion of unity and responsibility at the community level
Ensure programs raise the level of health, healthy lifestyles and preventative measures
Facilitate networking and information sharing to access inter-agency resources

All persons employed by the Okanagan Indian Band may be required to assist the Band in providing emergency services.

Participate in community events as requested

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
Provides training, advice, and guidance to team members as required
Develops and implements policy
Develop and administer formulas for funding community programs
Evaluate team performance on an ongoing basis and resolving any conflicts or problems as they occur
Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the OKIB policies and procedures
Home and Community Care Supervisor, Child and Family Services Practice Lead, Health Programs Lead, Wellness Programs Lead, Administrative Accreditation Coordinator, Health and Wellness Administrative Assistant

You are community-minded, detail-oriented,
Master's Degree Health, Public Administration or in other related fields
Demonstrated experience with strategic planning and program evaluation
Experience working with First Nations communities

Knowledge of human resources practices and procedures and performance management
Financial literacy and budget control
Desire to increase organizational capacity through professional development
Intermediate level ability with Microsoft Suite


Located within the unceded territory of the syilx people, the Okanagan Indian Band is comprised of six reserves located in the North Okanagan.
