The Mapping organization at Lyft has spent the last few years building up Lyft's mapping assets and capabilities by combining many internal and external data sources and services into an increasingly powerful and mission-critical technology stack. In doing so, we've also enabled new user experiences and features across all of Lyft's products, including rideshare industry leading firsts like CarPlay, Android Auto, and real-time driver feedback

You're an experienced app developer looking to make a big impact and help take our team to the next level. We build apps used by millions of people, and we take great pride in our work. This means excellent development practices, careful code architecture, and an organization built around rapid releases.

You'll collaborate with engineering, product, data science, analytics, and operations on programs that empower us to iterate quickly, delighting our passengers and drivers with rideshare focused mapping experiences

Responsibilities:

Keep up-to-date with Android developmentBuild great UX for millions of usersWork within our product teams to build exciting featuresNew feature development and experimentation with further data analysisSolve challenging real-time data transfer and synchronization problems

Experience:

3+ years of experience as an Android developerWorked on and shipped large scale Android applicationsExperience delivering high-quality codeExperience using design and architecture patternsProficiency in Java and KotlinGood sense of usability and productGeneralist engineer experience - experience building web services, accessing data storagesBonus Points: experience pursuing side projects or open-source projects, experience with unidirectional data-flow and reactive programmingStrong communication skills and advanced proficiency in EnglishVery knowledgeable about architecture and design patternsGreat product sense; you care about usability and good designWorked collaboratively with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to build complex products

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid
