Support Staff Temporary Full-time Appendix D Contract Replacement PositionJuly 1, 2024 – August 25, 2024

The role involves managing and maintaining electrical systems in buildings and infrastructure with a focus on safety and energy efficiency. The position requires independent assessment and ensuring a safe supply of electrical energy across all campuses. The incumbent plays a key role in health and safety planning, accident prevention, and compliance with regulations. Some travel between campus locations may be necessary.

Successful candidates will work on-site at the Doon campus in Kitchener, Ontario, conducting work within the province.

Responsibilities:

Electrical Systems

  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical systems up to 600 volts
  • Responds to electrical problems and equipment malfunction
  • Performs preventative maintenance on electrical equipment
  • Investigates and fixes wiring issues
  • Completes necessary documentation

Fire Alarm Systems

  • Offers support to the Fire Safety team

Information & Support

  • Shares knowledge with other teams
  • Identifies safety hazards
  • Assists with emergency systems
  • Coordinates solutions to electrical issues
  • Assists in various installations
  • Conducts building scans
  • Assists with maintenance tasks
  • Updates system directories

Qualifications:

  • Journeyperson – Electrician Construction and Maintenance certification in Ontario
  • 8+ years of experience in commercial/industrial environments
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and regulations
  • Understanding of HVAC and fire alarm systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex problems
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • G driver's license required
  • Overtime and travel may be necessary
