Our Parks, Recreation, Culture and Facilities Department is currently looking for energetic and creative Program Leaders for various facilities and programs, including Art, Sports, and Performing Arts programs for Early Years, School Aged and Youth participants


Program Leaders will have leadership responsibility for planning, implementing and leading a variety of social, cultural, sport, and general interest activities.

Program Leaders will provide guidance to volunteers on their program duties and will be responsible for safe and proper use of equipment and facilities.

You will be utilizing your independent judgment and initiative to lead and instruct assigned programs. Further, you will be establishing and maintaining effective relationships with staff, volunteers, and program participants.

Our next Program Leaders will have completed high school, and have some related experience, preferably in Municipal recreational work. You will also have some supervisory experience.

Experience leading arts, culture or recreation programs for 0-18 year old in a municipal setting will be considered an asset.

Please note that a St. John's First Aid Certificate (SOFA) or equivalent is required.

This position requires flexibility, as shifts vary to accommodate program schedules, and may include evenings and weekends.

The City offers a CUPE hourly rate for Program Leaders of $ $26.87 plus 12% in lieu of benefits. The City has a vaccination policy that is currently suspended. However, should the policy be reinstated, it will be a requirement for all current and future employees.
