JOB SUMMARY:

This is an mid-level, maintenance position where the employee possesses fundamental mechanical knowledge to perform inside/outside routine maintenance or preventive maintenance for building(s), grounds, machines, and equipment that includes setup and adjustments for production runs and installation/repair of machines and equipment following standard operating and safety procedures.

Employee may interact with vendors to obtain estimates and submits orders for repair parts and supplies as needed.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School/GED Required
  • Valid Driver's License Required
  • Demonstrated mechanical experience
  • Electrical and PLC programming experience an asset

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess dependability to be consistently at work and on time with ability to work 40+ flexible schedule as required
  • Possess ability to read and comprehend written instruction; follow verbal directives; follow general and maintenancespecific safety procedures and guidelines
  • Possess functional mathematical ability including knowledge of fractions and decimals to perform basic math calculations and measurement computing using tape measure and/or micrometers
  • Possess functional mechanical knowledge with ability to develop good fabricating and troubleshooting skills including pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Possess working knowledge of operational functions for general maintenance equipment including cranes, forklifts, milling machines, lathes, welding and cutting equipment, and hand/power tools
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Possess a "Team Member" mentality with a QA/safety oriented mindset when performing maintenance duties or operational instruction
  • Possess selfmotivational skills to perform duties without direct supervision with ability to multitask and perform well under pressure
  • Possess functional communication skills to interact with management, coworkers, and outside vendors
  • Possess close visual acuity, near/far vision, and multiple limb coordination
  • Possess manual dexterity and moderate/heavy lbs) lifting capability while performing essential job duties
  • Possess repetitive standing, walking, and/or bending capability during normal phase duties

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Disassembles and assembles robots or peripheral equipment to make repairs such as replacing circuit boards, sensors, controllers and mechanical components.
  • Performs preventative or corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including pneumatic & hydraulic systems.
  • Maintains, repair and service reports (daily downtime reports and major downtime reports) of presses, robotic equipment and automated production systems.
  • Align, fit or assemble component parts using hands & power tools.
  • Terminates wire harness and other electrical installations
  • Develops, corrects and verifies machinery to ensure safety, quality and equipment efficiency.
  • Maintains and repairs building equipment including air compressor systems, lighting, etc.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts.
  • Conduct a safety evaluation of work area prior to performing maintenance actions.
  • Perform at a traininglevel capacity inside/outside, routine maintenance or preventive maintenance actions for building(s), grounds, machines, and equipment following standard operating and safety procedures. Maintenance actions include setup actions for product runs; troubleshooting, repairing, and installing machinery/equipment; calibrating and repairing pneumatic systems; inspection of belts, fluid levels, filters, bearings, seals, etc.; providing corrective actions as required.
  • Perform inside/outside, minor/major emergency repairs as required for building(s), grounds, machines, and equipment following standard operating and safety procedures.
  • Perform computerized control and monitoring of mechanical equipment.
  • Perform housekeeping actions adhering to post maintenance/repair procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Majority of work performance is conducted in a steel manufacturing plant environment using heavy production machinery, material handling and jobspecific equipment and tools. Plant safety and machinespecific safety procedures are strictly enforced and compliant with Federal and/or Provincial regulations.
  • Safety training, written procedures, and continual improvement measures are implemented to eliminate or control any physical/environmental hazards that may be present in the workplace.
  • Employee use of personal protective equipment is enforced for all phases of job performance to prevent bodily injury.
