The Indigenous Health Program (IHP) at UHN has a variety of initiatives aimed at improving access to high quality care for Indigenous patients, supporting Indigenous staff and learners, and changing institutional practices to create safer spaces.

The IHP partners with other UHN programs, external organizations, and the Indigenous community to create, implement and evaluate their programming.


THE POSITION:


The Program Evaluator works with the IHP team and various stakeholders to conduct research, analysis, and developmental, process, and summative evaluations of the various projects and initiatives that the IHP is involved in.

The IHP provides support across all sites of UHN.

First Nations, Inuit and Métis persons are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Designing, implementing and managing activities for evaluations, including developing methodologies and evaluation tools to measure program process, outcome, impact, and effectiveness;
  • Managing and maintaining evaluation data including developing benchmarks to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of these systems;
  • Preparing written reports based on evaluation results and recommend interventions to inform continued program improvements;
  • Conducting focus groups, surveys and interviews, data collection and analysis ensuring data is reliable and valid
  • Supporting senior level decisionmaking by developing evaluation reports in a variety of formats, tailored to a range of stakeholders
  • Participating in program planning as needed, with specific reference to prospective program evaluation planning
  • Participating in diverse knowledge translation activities (e.g. clinical rounds, education sessions, community reports, web content, community forums, academic publications, cultural gatherings and events)
  • Collaboratively supervise learners/students on placement;
  • Participating and contributing to assigned project teams or committees

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a Masters Degree in a field related to monitoring and evaluating health services research (or a equivalent combination of education/experience);
  • Education related to Indigenous knowledges, values, traditions, cultures and experiences; Formal (e.g. Courses) and/or informal (e.g. community/ family teachings etc.), preferred;
  • Minimum 3 years practical/related experience, required;
  • Experience with Indigenous evaluation frameworks, required;
  • Experience with OCAP and Indigenous data governance, an asset;
  • Experience in planning, leading, and conducting evaluation studies/program evaluations (including developing logic models, program measures and evaluation strategies), required;
  • Excellent methodological skills

Including:
recent experience using quantitative, qualitative, or optimally mixed methods in evaluation or research studies;

  • Excellent analytical skills

Including:
experience in interpreting evaluation or research findings and providing recommendations and strategic advice to senior management based on their interpretation of the findings;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must demonstrate considerable experience in writing and presenting reports to a broad range of stakeholders;
  • Dynamic knowledge of Indigenous Nations, community engagement and cultural protocols for effective engagement with First Nations, Inuit, Métis partners, organizations, and community members, and experience building, maintaining, and nurturing relationships with Indigenous communities, required;
  • Experience working with diverse partners and stakeholders;
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and independently;
  • Experience with Indigenous cultural safety training, antiracist practice, traumainformed care, and Indigenous rights frameworks an asset;
  • Proficiency in a First Nations, Inuit or Métis language, verbal and/or written, an asset;
  • Vaccines (COVID19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
