About the Opportunity:

The Transport Driver, reporting to the Supervisor, Supply Chain Distribution, functions within the guidelines established by the Materiel Management department in conformance with administration
and departmental policies and procedures.

The Transport Driver handles all material and supplies needing transportation between sites on a safe and timely basis as per a predetermined schedule.

The Transport Driver maintains vehicle records and reports needed adjustments and repairs. While performing the driving duties of the this position, the incumbent must exercise care and judgement, with priorities
being safety, courtesy, and common driving sense.

Other Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting all customers by dealing with inquiries regarding transport of supplies.
  • Maintaining the interior of the vehicles in a neat and tidy manner, and disposing of any waste properly.
  • May be required to provide training or demonstrate tasks to fellow workers or new staff.
  • Participate actively in the department's Total Quality Management Program.
  • Perform other related tasks as deemed necessary for the effective and efficient functioning of the Materiel Management department.

About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12 diploma required
  • Must be 25 years or older
  • Trained in "WHMIS" and "Transportation of Dangerous Goods", or a willingness to be trained
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving abstract
  • Must possess the ability to plan and organize the work flow in a constantly changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to perform work of substantial physical demand
  • Ethical business principles
  • Ability to work independently, and function as part of team
  • Familiarity with vehicles used and their operation, and with material handling equipment
  • Customer focused
  • Must be able to work in an environment that is, at times, adverse. For example, noise, dust, and fumes may be present.
  • May be exposed to prevailing weather conditions and congested traffic
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
