The Role

The Academic Technology and Curriculum Coordinator is a key communicator, technology leader, and troubleshooter dedicated to advancing the academic and operational goals of Douglas College. Reporting to the Vice President, Academic and Provost, this role involves the implementation and maintenance of IT applications managed by the Academic Division, including but not limited to:

Responsibilities

· Provide IT support for CN, as IT Services is not responsible for CN.

· Utilize the Logi Ad Hoc CN Reporting data analytics tool and generate reports.

· Manage the Academic Integrity Module AIE (College-wide Sections).

· Develop and maintain internally controlled Excel/ VBA -based efficiency tools (e.g., course scheduling templates).

· Maintain and develop content for the CN DC Connect site.

· Serve as a member of the Academic Integrity Committee.

· Serve as a member of the Learning Technology Steering Committee ( LTSC ).

The coordinator provides liaison and 'incidental' support for IT applications in other divisions of the College relevant to the Academic Division, including but not limited to:

· SharePoint-based forms and workflows.

· Website development and marketing groups.

The coordinator is the primary contact for all technical and process related issues to do with Curriculum Navigator (CN) including, but not limited to:

· Monitor and communicate through the CN email daily.

· Liaise with the CN vendor (Granius).

· Assist with user rights to CN.

· Cover CN rights for the Executive Assistant, Student Affairs, during holidays.

· Understand curriculum governance and work stage processes.

· Install new versions/updates of software.

· Provide technical and workflow fixes as needed.

· Generate customized reports through the CN Reporting tool (AdHoc Logi Analytics).

· Liaise regularly with faculties and provide training support.

· Respond to CN helpdesk requests that are not supported by IT Services helpdesk staff.

· Work with admin staff in the VP's Office.

· Maintain supporting documentation, including updating manuals and SOPs.

· Work with Enrolment Services to ensure the compatibility of CN applications and the reconciliation of programs, curriculum information, graduation requirements, etc., across applications.

· Provide general support and advice to Enrolment Services staff concerning policies, processes, and technology affecting the efficient use of Curriculum Navigator.

· Conduct workshops for individuals and groups on Curriculum Navigator.

· Develop video and written documentation instructions on Curriculum Navigator.

Work in conjunction with admin staff, chairs, and coordinators using knowledge of Excel to develop and maintain efficiency tools across platforms (forms, templates, workflows) that support:

· Annual updates and maintenance of the scheduling system.

· SharePoint and DC Connect site updates.

· Serve as the academic user for SharePoint, including DC Connect.

· Liaise with academic SharePoint owners and Project Managers, and work closely with IT Services to ensure that all SharePoint products serve the needs of the Academic Division.

The coordinator is the primary contact for all Academic Integrity Education ( AIE ) module and process-related issues college-wide. They will support all new and returning students in navigating the module, including but not limited to:

Monitor student and employee questions through the AIE email daily.

· Regularly communicate with students to ensure completion of the AIE module.

· Set up the Blackboard course for 3-5 sections per term.

· Troubleshoot technical issues with the AIE module.

To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need

· A minimum of 2 years of FTE service, 5 years preferred.
· A post-secondary credential in a computing or IT related field and demonstrated ability to manage technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in curriculum design.
· Demonstrated proficiency at navigating college governance and educational policies for faculty education committees and Edco.
· Demonstrated mastery of CN.
· Ability to work cooperatively, collaboratively, and constructively with faculty, staff and administrators, excellent oral and written communications skills.
· Previous experience as academic chair or academic coordinator is considered an asset.
· Ability to program in Microsoft Excel and VBA is considered an asset.
· Ability to use data analytic tools (i.e. Power BI) is considered an asset.
