The Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the Department of Medicine is home to 12 full-time academic physiatrists and researchers and approximately 22 associated clinical academic colleagues.

The Division has one of the oldest and best known PMR residency training programs in Canada and currently has 13 full-time trainees.

In addition to clinical training, the Division of PMR has many strong and well-funded researchers, particularly in the areas of spinal cord injury recovery and treatment as well as neuro-prosthetics and neural integration.

Our Division members have been the recipients of many national and international awards recognizing their contributions to rehabilitation science and education.

The Division of PMR is also strongly associated with the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, one of the largest freestanding rehabilitation hospitals in North America, serving all of Northern Alberta, parts of British Columbia, and northern Canada.

Key accountabilities of the Academic Physiatrist will include, but will not be limited to clinical coverage for the stroke rehabilitation and amputation rehabilitation programs (inpatient consults, outpatient clinics), research in a field relevant to Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and involvement in medical education of undergraduate and graduate learners.

Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic Medicine & Health Services Program. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
