BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE ATTENDANT - SPECIAL NEEDS (CASUAL)

There are casual positions available for Before and After School Care Attendants - Special Needs with School District No.

Applications must be completed online via the website and will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the positions are filled.

Please note that due to licensing requirements, only applicants 19 years of age or older can be considered for this position.

Reporting to site Administrative Officer and Before & After School Program Coordinator, this position is responsible for coordinating and providing before and after school care to school aged children who have special needs.

Successful applicant may need to work at other locations as needed in Before & After School Care Attendant position.
Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts.
Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for activities and rest periods.
Maintain toys and other applicable equipment and assist in housekeeping duties.
Provides personal care to students on a regular or routine basis.

Personal Care is defined as duties which require the attendant to come into direct body contact with the student (includes but is not limited to toileting needs).

Carries out child specific procedures as outlined in the Health Care Plan.
Supplies support services related to the position, for example (photocopying, typing and filing).
Uses a wide range of equipment including adaptive technology, augmentative communication devices, computer systems and software.
Education Assistant or ECE college courses would be an asset
One year training/experience working with school aged children is preferred

Training/experience in non-averse behavior management programs, functional life skills curriculum personal care, discrete-trial-format instruction and communicating with low-verbal/non-verbal children.

(Level 1 First Aid Certificate may be required
Food Safe Certificate
Certificate and other online safety training provide by the District to be completed within the probationary period
