About the role

As a backend developer, you will primarily work on constructing and managing APIs for our web-based platform. Additionally, you will be involved in data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity initiatives. You will collaborate with fellow backend developers to design data structures, generate data analytics insights, and develop tools to enhance the developer experience.

In this impactful position, you will directly engage with the founders and other developers to contribute to the overall product strategy and shape our future.

Requirements

  • You should be adept at remote work, with excellent communication skills, a sense of ownership, and accountability
  • Proven expertise in Django Rest Framework (Python)
  • Proficiency in building with relational databases such as Postgres
  • Familiarity with networking, security, and RBAC systems
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional developer experience
  • Authorized to work in Canada; sponsorship for work permits will not be provided for this role

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with the following:
    • GCP (or AWS or Azure)
    • Docker & Kubernetes
    • Auth0 or other authentication systems
    • SQL and other query languages
  • Experience in the following architectures and associated tooling:
    • Event-driven architecture
    • Microservice architecture
    • Real-time architecture
  • Background in data lifecycle management
  • Knowledge of statistics and data algorithms
  • Preference for creating documentation and communication/organization systems
  • Experience in an early-stage startup environment
  • Familiarity with fintech or a demonstrated interest in the industry

Compensation and additional benefits:

  • Salary range of $105,000 to $120,000 (experience-based)
  • Paid vacation time (dependent on role and tenure)
