As a member of the Electrification Distribution Solutions engineering team, you will work on projects to provide to customers (Datacenters and Traction Power Substations) with high quality equipment, in order to power up their electrical systems via MV/LV Switchgear, Transformer-rectifier units, DC Switchgear and LV Distribution systems.

You will be main mechanical technical point of contact, for AC and DC system, related to engineering projects mainly in North America, under the Electrification division, Distribution Solutions unit. Reporting to the Engineering manager, you will drive excellence - ensuring that design activities are efficiently and cost-effectively executed in accordance with customer expectations, contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. You will coordinate with multiple suppliers across the globe.

Your responsibilities

  • Collaborating with Senior Product Engineers, Project Managers and Operations staff to deliver designs in a timely manner with high-quality deliverables that meet customer expectations.
  • Providing technical solutions for Direct Current industrial equipment in accordance with customer specifications and applicable standards.
  • Designing electrical equipment, including equipment structure, sheet metal enclosures, electrical busbar systems, and device mounting.
  • Conducting design reviews and verification, following established QA/QC process, providing feedback on design aspects, and making necessary modifications.
  • Producing Bill of Material and entering them in ERP system (SAP).
  • Performing detailed and parts drawings of custom parts.
  • Validating mechanical design solutions from sub-suppliers ensuring all customer and site installation requirements are met.
Your background
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in mechanical design, industrial equipment design.
  • Experience in any relevant technical topics: E-House, power conversion, rectifiers, medium voltage equipment, DC equipment, substation design, documentation preparation for installation, test procedures or site commissioning support.
  • OIQ or PEO or EGBC valid membership, mandatory. Other provinces - an asset.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferable).
  • Experience in 3D software design, mandatory (Solid Edge or Inventor Software, an asset).
  • Knowledge of industrial electricity, an asset.
  • Ability to read, understand and communicate in English. English is required as this position will service internal and external clients from other provinces.
