Job Summary:


Reporting to the Manager of Central Supports and in consultation with the Manager, Health, Safety & Wellness, the Attendance Support Coordinator is accountable to provide support to Senior Services managers and staff to promote the safe return to work and regular attendance at work.


Education:

  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in a related discipline.
  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Health Sciences and/or Kinesiology is preferred.

Knowledge:

  • 3 years' experience in Human Resources, Health and Safety and disability claims Management
  • Working knowledge of health, safety and human rights legislation.
  • Disability Management Certificate (National Institute of Disability Management and Research), or equivalent related qualifications and experience preferred
  • Knowledge of ergonomic principles, musculoskeletal disorders, assessment tools and methodologies to analyze and assess work environments.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues, assessment tools, and return to work strategies
  • Knowledge of the Parklane Claims Management system is preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Kronos and Peoplesoft is an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates and coordinates programs relating to staff on WSIB, STD and LTD and facilitates work reentry via Temporary Transitional Work Plans (TTWP)._

  • Supports and works with management and Health & Safety staff to successfully coordinate staff TTWP'S and return to work plans
  • Communicates with management staff regarding work assignment and management of disability cases
  • Assists management in ensuring staffs' early and safe return to work
  • Works effectively with union representatives
  • Works closely with Employee Health Services on complex cases
  • Assists management in the administration of the ASP program. (_

  • Works with the Disability Management Coordinator in the effective coordination and proper administration of the medical certificate requirement process, as well as the Attendance Support Program
  • Coordinates meetings with management and staff to discuss strategies to support improvements in attendance management
Claims Support
(10% of time)

  • With the assistance of Employee Health Services staff, support management staff in the effective administration of case management strategies
  • Liaise with Niagara Region stakeholders, ensuring approach and communication style is objective, detailed and sensitive to the situation
  • Maintain systems to ensure the effective monitoring and prioritization of claims to mitigate risk and loss
  • Tracks, analyzes and prepares reports on STD, LTD, ASP WSIB data within the Division, identifying trends and providing recommendations on potential programs/practices that may be introduced/modified to reduce lost time. _

  • Initiates and supports research in order to track attendance trends
  • Reviews and analyzes statistics, developing and implementing programs and practices to enhance the efficiency of disability prevention and management practices in the division
