The Development Officer has a key role in contributing to the evangelizing mission of the Church and the good works done by local members of Christ's faithful.

The Development Officer works collaboratively with the Director of the Development Office, the Associate Director for Planned Giving, Delegate, Archbishop and senior archdiocesan leaders to ensure that the mission and work of the local church is strengthened and enhanced by ensuring the long-term financial support for the mission carried out in parishes, ministries and projects within the Archdiocese of Vancouver.

The Development Officer must be committed to the Church's mission of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to the principles of Gospel stewardship.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Delegate, Director, Associate Director, Planned Gifts
  • Coordinate Events, Meetings, Mailings, Reports, working collaboratively with the/a team. Prepare briefing notes for the Archbishop and Senior Leaders
  • Collaborating with Communications Office and external service providers
  • Prepare reports for:
    • Donors
    • Archbishop
    • Parishes (Impact Reports)
    • Development Staff
    • Communications
  • Writing campaign materials specific to all functions above
  • Assist Development Office staff in the following functions:
    • DRFs
    • Tax Receipts
    • Supporting Parish Communication
    • Mail lists/ mergers
    • Donor research/ data pulls
    • Online forms
    • Processing donations
    • Records Management
    • Database cleanup
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Passionate about the Evangelizing Mission of the Church and bringing people closer to Jesus Christ;
  • Understanding of and embracing a model of servant leadership in all endeavors;

Other Skills, Experience, Education and Training desired:

  • Knowledge of Church fundraising;
  • CFRE accreditation or desire to obtain;
  • 3 years of fundraising experience;
  • Highly interpersonal – notable ability to build trust, listen, asses, align and consult with those you work with and support;
  • Ability to build positive and enduring relationships with donors, pastors, parish and, archdiocesan leaders;
  • Must possess a high level of initiative, judgment and discretion;
  • Competence with Microsoft Office suite and database management (SalesForce);
  • Be highly organized and very detail oriented;
  • Strong ability to write case statements and donor gift proposals;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Ability and willingness to coordinate multiple projects at once.
  • Full time role. It is understood that there may be evening and weekend work in order to fulfill the needs of this position;
