This position reports to the Director, Investment Resource Group who is based in Vancouver.


The
Manager, Process Automation will lead the development and implementation of robotic process automation and business process management initiatives within the Investment Resource Group at Connor Clark & Lunn Financial Group.

The role will involve designing and executing a strategic plan to leverage automation technologies to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency across various business teams, developing a citizen-led automation focus and developing a center of excellence to lead process automation efforts.


What You Will Do

  • Strategic Planning of Automation initiatives:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for RPA and BPM initiatives aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Create and implement standardized processes for the software development life cycle of automation projects, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
  • Design and deliver training programs to equip staff with the necessary skills to effectively participate in automation processes, including RPA/BPM tool training, process mapping, and optimization techniques
  • Oversee and support citizen developers within the organization in identifying automation opportunities, designing workflows, and developing automation solutions
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to identify inefficiencies in existing processes and recommend automation solutions to drive process optimization and cost savings
  • Establish quality standards and best practices for automation development, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Implement performance monitoring mechanisms to track the effectiveness of automation initiatives and provide regular reports and updates to senior management
  • Partner with CC&L IS to evaluate and select RPA/BPM software vendors and manage vendor relationships to ensure the successful implementation and support of automation initiatives
  • Work with CC&LFG's senior leadership, Information Systems team and other stakeholders in the development of automation strategy and it's execution
  • Work with CC&L's Operational Risk team to review and manage processes and operational design

What You Bring
We believe that this role is ideal for a seasoned software development or automation professional with practical experience in the financial services sector, preferably in an international environment

Desired attributes include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least eight years of overall experience with a minimum of five years' experience in leading RPA and/or BPM initiatives within a financial services or investment management firm. Team management and people management experience is preferred
  • Indepth knowledge of Microsoft PowerAutomate (preferred) or other RPA/BPM tools such as UiPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, Camunda, Pega or Appian
  • Experience developing and/or leading development in Python, Java, VisualBasic or C++
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies and SDLC processes
  • Experience managing staff in a finance operations role with demonstrated ability to create strong employee engagement. Staff development and coaching experience is required
  • Demonstrated experience in training and developing staff in automation technologies and methodologies
  • Knowledge of financial services posttrade operational processes, regulatory requirements, and compliance standards relevant to the financial services industry
  • Ability to think critically, analyze situations, and develop creative solutions focused on efficiency and improving existing processes to solve complex financial and operational problems
  • Highly organized with an ability to multitask while being able to meet tight deadlines
  • Selfmotivated, high degree of ownership and responsibility, able to work independently and manage a team
