Delong America is immediately seeking to fill the open position of Applications Engineer – Installations and TrainingsDelong America is the Montreal based global sales, marketing and customer support office for the Delong Instruments brand of electron microscopes.

Delong Instruments is proud to be the world leader in benchtop and compact Low Voltage Electron Microscopes (LVEM). Our user base consists of prominent, well-known and leading-edge materials, engineering and biological research establishments.

The Applications Engineer – Installations and Trainings position is a customer facing role and the front line of our company towards our existing customer base.

In this role, you will be responsible for all things customer and instrumentation related after initial purchase. This begins with management of instrument delivery, installation and customer training activities.

Subsequently, working closely with our users, you will be able to participate in development of applications where our instrumentation can play a leading role.

You would also be assisting customers with troubleshooting and providing solutions to technical, operational, maintenance and service issues.

You will regularly have the opportunity to visit world-wide customer sites as well as our central design and manufacturing center in Brno, Czech Republic.

The Applications Engineer – Installations and Trainings will be part of our tight-knit team and will work closely with the Sales & Marketing team, Service team and communicate regularly with our technical group in Brno.

Job descriptionFacilitate the implementation, applications development and continued use of Delong electron microscopes. The Applications Engineer – Installations and Trainings will work to;

  • Coordinate, manage and execute the delivery to, and Installation of, newly acquired electron microscopes at customer sites along with training new users.
  • Maintaining meaningful relationships with active customers.
  • Assist customers in the optimal use of Delong electron microscopes by providing applications support as well as advice and guidance.
  • Assist customers with regards to troubleshooting, service and maintenance of their instrumentation.

Skill set required· Excellent people skills (friendliness, positive attitude, patience)· Excellent organization and planning skills· Excellent Multi-tasking skill· Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills· Excellent ability to execute complex solutions remotely via instructions to third parties (teammates and users)· Experience with tools and assembly procedures for electronic equipment· Excellent communication skills required; fluent English (oral & written)· Strong writing skills with extra credit for scientific writing ability· Interest in, and capacity for, both personal and departmental development and growth· Experience with Salesforce or other CRM/case management software an assetTravel You will have the opportunity to schedule visits to new and existing customer sites and participate with our sales team as an exhibitor at scientific conferences worldwide.

You will also have the opportunity to visit and be trained at our head office in the Czech Republic. You will be out of Montreal approximately 1 week of every month.

Required Experience:

  • Hold a degree in science and/or engineering
  • Previous customer service experience an asset
  • Experience with electron microscopy is a strong asset, but not a requirement for this position if substituted with experience with other similar analytical instrumentation
