Toronto, Ontario, Canada Canadian Mothercraft Society Full time
Child Development Worker Status:
  • Regular Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)

For close to a century, we've been pioneers in promoting healthy child development and supporting families in our community. Committed to excellence, we are always exploring innovative concepts and ideas in child care and education.

Our foundation is based on the latest research, influencing every aspect of our work. From top-notch child care programs to specialized services for children and families with unique needs, and comprehensive training programs for childcare providers and other professionals.

At Mothercraft, we embrace diversity and strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. Join us in our quest to help children thrive and families succeed.

The Early Intervention (EI) Department offers programs for early intervention/children's mental health, aimed at reducing risks and enhancing the development of substance-exposed children (prenatal – 6 years). Services provided address maternal addiction issues and the mother-child relationship through community-based cross-systemic partnerships.

The EI department also conducts evaluation and research focused on issues relevant to early intervention programs, such as Breaking the Cycle (BTC), Parent-Infant Program, BTC Pregnancy Outreach Program, and Connections.

As the newest addition to our team as a Child Development Worker, you will have a vital role in facilitating parent-child groups, providing child care, and assessing child developmental functioning and parent-child interactions.

You will be tasked with creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where parents and children can learn and develop.

As a Child Development Worker, you will:

  • Report to the Program Manager and assess child development functioning and parent-child interactions.
  • Participate in team case planning.
  • Keep all necessary program documentation and follow department policies and practices.
  • Collaborate with the community to convey the mandate and goals of Breaking the Cycle.
  • Offer community education and support programs as needed.
  • Engage in internal and external committees to enhance care quality for children and families.

Requirements for this role include a diploma in Early Childhood Education or a related field, along with at least two to five years of experience in child care, focusing on infancy, early child development, and working with vulnerable families.

Knowledge and experience with children requiring extra support, understanding of the Child and Family Services Act, registration with the College of ECE, full vaccination with a recognized COVID-19 vaccine, and compliance with immunizations and health assessments per the Child Care and Early Years Act are also necessary.

An adaptable and collaborative teamwork approach, a dedication to delivering exceptional child care, and a strong understanding of early childhood development are essential qualities for this role.

Our team at Mothercraft is central to everything we do, creating an inclusive environment that motivates our team to love their workplace. We provide a range of benefits, from fulfilling career opportunities to a comprehensive benefits package and a defined benefit pension plan, prioritizing your success.

Team:

We are a group of devoted individuals committed to promoting healthy child development and making a positive impact on families and communities.

Benefit from a comprehensive package, including extended health, dental, life insurance, and long-term disability coverage for you and your family.

Pension:
  • Enjoy the advantages of our defined benefit pension plan for financial security and stability.

Engage in our financial wellness program with Enriched Academy, offering resources to help you achieve financial goals and improve your financial well-being.

Expand your skills through professional development opportunities, staying updated on the latest research and best practices in the field.
