Overview:

As a Sewer/Water Deckhand, you will support the installation, repair, and maintenance of sewer and water systems on construction sites.

Working under the supervision of a foreman or lead technician, you will assist in various tasks related to sewer and water infrastructure to ensure efficient and safe operations.


Key Responsibilities:

Assistance with Installation and Repair:

  • Assist in the installation and repair of sewer and water systems, including pipes, valves, fittings, and fixtures.
  • Assist in excavating trenches and holes using hand tools and equipment.
  • Support pipe laying activities, including measuring, cutting, and assembling pipes as directed.

Equipment Operation:

  • Operate hand tools and small power tools used in sewer and water construction activities.
  • Assist in the operation of heavy equipment under the guidance of experienced operators, such as excavators, backhoes, and trenching machines.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of tools and equipment after use.

Material Handling and Logistics:

  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment from trucks and storage areas.
  • Transport materials and supplies to work areas as directed by the foreman or lead technician.
  • Organize and maintain inventory of materials and supplies on site.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety regulations and procedures at all times, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow instructions and guidelines provided by the foreman or lead technician to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Report any safety hazards, incidents, or near misses immediately to supervisors.

Support Team Operations:

  • Assist in setting up and dismantling work zones, including signage, barricades, and safety cones.
  • Collaborate with team members and subcontractors to accomplish project goals and meet deadlines.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the foreman or lead technician.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in construction or related field is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and manual labor.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and construction equipment.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills in sewer and water system installation and maintenance.

Education and Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certification or training in constructionrelated trades is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record may be required for certain tasks.

Work Environment:

  • Work primarily takes place outdoors on construction sites, involving exposure to varying weather conditions and physical demands.
  • May require occasional travel to different project locations and flexibility in working hours to meet project deadlines.

Pay:
From $29.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
