Responsibilities:

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Manager, Pension Investment Technology:

  • Leads the development and maintenance of IT operations and infrastructure for the Pension Investment team to support the unique trading and investment needs of the Front Office trading desks, Operations, risk teams, and all other Pension Plan users.
  • Proactively address challenges and long-standing issues through investigating incidents, understanding user needs, analysing problems, and determining short-term solutions so service remains uninterrupted. Leads research, testing, and analysis to identify themes and determine the best permanent solution to resolve the issue, long-term.
  • Consults with Director and peers to gather information, explore gaps in current services, gain new perspectives, consider best practices, and explore new strategies. Collaborates with senior level management to communicate needs and findings, negotiate business cases, and to influence the best courses of action.
  • Oversees vendor management for the design and implementation of IT infrastructures and networks. Approves designs of new installation or changes to current installation, submitted by IT providers, and collaborates with the providers during the implementation stage. Regularly assesses vendor services to determine what services are required to meet the needs of the Pension Investment team, and what services can be discontinued to control related costs.

Job Responsibilities (continued):

  • Acts as the contact for escalated IT support issues, including nonroutine situations, identifying and coordinating the appropriate solution.
  • Implements IT governance and compliance to ensure rules and best practices are being followed. Minimizes risk to the Pension Investment team through increased automation.
  • Develops and executes technical roadmaps to ensure business continuity. Drives longer term planning, architecture, and design, for IT operations and infrastructure development.
  • Networks with industry professionals from external pension plan groups to remain up to date on industry trends and maintain a network of other IT professionals.

Qualifications:

EducationExperience**- 3 to 5 years of relevant functional in a finance environment, including experience with needs assessment, solution design, implementation, and ongoing support/evolution

  • 1 to 3 years of experience working with highprofile clients
  • 2 or more years' experience managing people
  • IT generalist knowledge of systems and programs
  • Excellent team building and leadership skills and experience
  • Exemplary communication and coordination skills
  • Excellent decision maker who can quickly assess a situation and make the appropriate choice
  • Knowledge in Back Office processes, Trading, Clearing and Financial Markets is required (e.g., Bloomberg)
